Kingston College (KC) sprint sensation Bouwahjgie Nkrumie became the third junior sprinter in history to run a sub-10 time, fulfilling his season-long promise. He won the gold medal in the Boys’ Class One 100m on day two of the ISSA/GracceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships at the National Stadium with a personal best of 9.99 seconds. In a good season, he broke the Corporate Area Development Meet record with 10.40 seconds, defeating Calabar High School’s Edward Clarke’s 10.45 from 2015.

Bouwahjgie Nkrumie broke the Class 1 Boys’ record at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships semi-finals on Wednesday (March 29, 2023). He broke the 2014 Kingston College record of 10.12 seconds established by Zharnel Hughes with a 10.08-second run. It was the first Jamaican junior sprinter to break 10 seconds.

In addition, Dr. Speed earned two silver medals at the World U20 Championships last year. He is a rising talent with several titles. Dr. Speed won the World Athletics U20 Championships, Pascual Guerrero Stadium, Cali (2022), and Youngster Goldsmith National Athletic Classic, National Stadium, Kingston (2023).
